Meet the CPN Team


Cruise Port Navigation (CPN) was founded by Ms. Heather Hopkins Clement and Dr. Bradley J. Clement in 2014.

Heather Hopkins Clement, MBA/MA


Cruise Port Navigation was born out of Heather’s passion for travel and cultural interest in East Asia and Japan. Heather is an experienced sightseer with 25 years of travel and cultural knowledge of the East Asian/Japanese market. She has worked in the travel industry with assignments to Japanese ports of call as a port lecturer and cultural historian. Heather has a bachelor’s degree in Asian Studies, specializing in Japan, from Furman University; a master’s degree in Asian Studies, specializing in Japan, from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor; and an MBA from Michigan State University.

Bradley J. Clement, PhD


As CTO, Brad lends his expertise as a tenured software developer with specific skills in artificial intelligence (AI). He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, as well as master’s and doctorate degrees in computer science and engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Brad’s research focuses on autonomous planning and scheduling. Before graduate school, he worked as a software engineer for Matsushita Electric Works (National/Panasonic) for two years in Osaka, Japan.

Sidney A. Hopkins


Drawing upon his extensive experience as a world traveler and leading groups abroad, Sid has a keen eye for the needs of the seasoned cruiser trying to navigate East Asia. Although officially retired, he supports CPN as an advisor in numerous ways.

Paula Green


Paula is a retired marketing and communications professional. During her 40-year career, her positions included marketing research analyst and marketing director for two regional newspapers, as well as the director of communications for a community college. She is assisting CPN in its advertising and communications efforts.

Christian Perez


Christian uses his background as a mobile developer to help bring a smooth experience to the Cruise Port Navigator app. He graduated from California State Polytechnic University of Pomona with a bachelor’s degree in computer science. Christian’s experience comes from both freelance work and as an iOS Engineer for an instant messaging company.

Kei Takahashi


Kei is responsible for daily operations of CPN’s Odawara, Japan office. She is from the port city of Kobe and graduated from the Hospitality Tourism College in Osaka with a degree in English Communications. During college, Kei studied abroad in Seattle. Upon completing her studies, she worked in Amsterdam for a major Japanese hotel chain.

Michelle Mifflin


Michelle provides the visual designs for CPN’s print and online advertisements, signage, and she has contributed to the look of the company’s website. Her creative expertise encompasses several mediums including print, digital, illustration, and photography. A graduate of Azusa Pacific University, Michelle’s career experience includes graphic designer positions at a community college and a magazine publishing company.

Yurika Baba


Yurika works periodically with CPN to coordinate special projects. During her childhood, she spent time in various parts of the U.S., including Los Angeles. After graduating from Keio University, Yurika worked in human resources for both Japanese and international companies representing various industries. She is also a nationally licensed guide-interpreter who garnered professional experience as both an in-house and a freelance interpreter before transitioning to freelance work.
